Gill scored 188 from three matches in the 1-2 series defeat against England and is now just one point behind table topper Mitchell, who has 802 points, while Kohli (767) and Rohit (758) sit third and fourth respectively.
England’s Joe Root, who was named Player of the Series after amassing an unbeaten 249 runs, rose four places to eighth, while teammate Ben Duckett rose 11 places to 19th and Jacob Bethell gained five places to 64th.
India’s newly appointed T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has moved up two places to 13th in the ODI batting rankings, while spinner Kuldeep Yadav has slipped from the top 10 to 11th among bowlers, led by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan.
England paceman Jofra Archer was among the notable movers as he moved up one place to third behind Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed after taking five wickets in the ODI series against India. PTI
