Nestle axes ‘fan favourite’ chocolate treat after just 4 years | UK | News

Nestlé has dealt a bitter blow to British consumers with a sweet tooth by pulling a popular treat from supermarket shelves just four years after its launch. Bite-sized bubble chocolates quietly disappeared late last year and Nestlé has confirmed they will no longer be returning.
The world’s largest food and drink company has announced that Aero Melts have been officially discontinued across the UK. First introduced in 2021, the flat, disc-shaped chocolates are filled with Aero’s signature fizzy chocolate core and wrapped in a smooth chocolate shell. The bag-sized treats took their place on the shelves with assertive flavors such as Milk Chocolate and Caramel, Double Chocolate Brownie, Golden Honeycomb and Neapolitan Ice Cream during their four-year production period.
Fans noticed the treats had disappeared late last year, prompting Nestlé to confirm the sad news.
A spokesperson for Nestlé said: “Although Aero Melts is no longer available, there are many exciting new products for Aero fans to enjoy.
“Alongside Peppermint Bubbles, we are strengthening our popular Aero Bubbles range, which now includes Orange Flavored Bubbles, Caramel Flavored Bubbles and Aero Milkybar Bubbles.”
The iconic Aero brand first hit UK shelves in 1935, launching exclusively as a mint flavored block before introducing the classic milk chocolate bar in 1970. Although the brand is now owned by Nestlé, Aero’s roots trace back to York-based confectionery manufacturer Rowntree’s. Rowntree set out to create a lighter, melt-in-your-mouth treat to rival Cadbury’s Dairy Milk.
Aero Melts are officially a thing of the past, but the brand’s wider range of products including Aero Bubbles, Aero Hot Chocolate and Aero Mousse remain firmly on UK store shelves.
This news from Nestlé comes as Marks & Spencer is sending chocolate-loving customers into a frenzy by bringing back a wave of nostalgia to store shelves. This month M&S announced the return of four of its 1980s chocolate hits – Jet, Now!, Sparks and Coconut Grove – reviving the iconic St Michael’s brand and bringing back favorites for the first time in nearly 30 years.
