Global baseline tariff will likely be 15% to 20%

President Donald Trump said on Monday that he would apply a blanket tariff between 15 and 20% of the countries that do not negotiate separate trade agreements to the US.
“I can say that this will be somewhere in the range of 15 to 20% for the world,” I just want to be good, “he said in the city of Turnberry, the city of Scotland, together with the United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
“I probably say one of these two numbers in the range of 15 to 20%.”
The numbers are important because Trump represents a major increase in the 10% basic tariff announced in April of this year.
In addition, it can damage smaller countries, hoping that the tariff rate will be closer to 10%.
Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick said at the beginning of this month, including “Latin American countries, Caribbean countries, many countries in Africa”, including a 10%base tariff of smaller nations.
However, Trump said on Monday, “We will start a tariff for the rest of the world, and this is what they will pay if they want to do business in the United States, because you can’t sit down and make 200 agreements.”
Trump’s comments, countries’ scores, and trade agreements with the USA days before the deadline for August 1 did not negotiate.
As the deadline appeared, Trump management officials recently argued that the White House was not “under pressure to make more agreements”.
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said in a statement on Monday that the CNBC said, “The president is pleased with the tariff many times, he is happy to send only a letter and to set up a tariff contrary to making an agreement.” He said.
A basic tariff rate of 15% to 20 in one place is equal to some agreements that the US has recently achieved with major trade partners.
Last week, Trump announced a 15% tariff in Japan and presented 15% tariff to most European goods on Sunday to the USA
