Former River City actor Iain Robertson jailed for nine years for rape

The trial heard how Robertson, from Carbeth in Stirlingshire, raped a woman between 2018 and 2019 and a separate sexual assault took place.

The two knew each other because they worked together in River City.

The woman said she didn’t want anything sexual to happen, but believed Robertson did.

The relationship became close, but the woman later told Robertson she wanted their relationship to become platonic.

He said he was at home in Tradeston, Glasgow, one evening and planned to sleep on the sofa, but Robertson allegedly told him he could join him in bed “as nothing would happen”.

However, the witness said the actor “had sex” with her.

He didn’t say anything to Robertson at the time, but said he didn’t agree with what was going on and didn’t want it to happen.

She also described an earlier incident in which Robertson performed a sexual act on her and “just waited for it to end”.

He was also found guilty of abusive behavior towards her.
