Caitlin Clark picks up 7th technical foul, nears one-game ban

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark came close to a one-game suspension when she picked up her seventh technical foul of the season against the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday night.
Towards the end of the third quarter, when the Fever were ahead 95-67, a foul was called on Olivia Nelson-Ododa. Nelson-Ododa’s teammate, Saniya Rivers, began dissing Clark. The WNBA sniper appeared to tell Rivers to check the scoreboard, and referees gave both of them technical fouls before things got even more tense.

“He said he locked me up, so I said, ‘Scoreboard,’ and the ref didn’t like that,” Clark said after the game. via ESPN.
Clark was adamant he couldn’t keep his aggressive style of play at bay just because he faced a one-game suspension for a subsequent technical foul.

“I think just keep controlling your emotions as much as you can. That intensity and fire is what makes me who I am, but also knowing that my team needs me and finding a good balance between those. But I don’t think I’ll play with that in the back of my head,” he said.
Indiana won the game 123-88.
Clark played with 27 points and 11 assists in 27 minutes. He shot 8/13 from the field and made 5 three-pointers.
He currently sits fourth in the scoring rankings, averaging 21 points per game. He also ranks second in assists per game with an average of 7.9. Indiana improved to 17-10 with the win and moved into fifth place in the WNBA standings.

Diamond Miller led Connecticut with 15 points. The Sun fell to 7-20 on the season.
