Courtney Stodden breaks silence on Seinfeld star Jason Alexander’s groveling apology over crude sketch
Courtney Stodden spoke out after Seinfeld star Jason Alexander publicly apologized for a sexually explicit skit in which they appeared together in 2012, when she was 17 and he was 52.
On Wednesday, Alexander, 66, expressed regret during an episode of Funny Or Die in which he rubbed his phone against the then-underage teen’s breasts and joked about the “signal on his chest.”
At the time, Stodden was the target of tabloid scrutiny and public shaming for her age-gap marriage to The Green Mile actor Doug Hutchison.
The two got married when she was 16 and he was 50. They divorced in 2020.
Stodden told Diversity Alexander said he was ‘surprised’ by her taking ‘responsibility’ and revealed that he had seen her in one of his hit movies, prompting her to call him out.
‘When I first heard that he had publicly apologized, I was grateful because I think that was the first step to change,’ he said.

On Monday, Stodden posted a screenshot from the sketch that showed Alexander holding her cellphone next to her chest while posing in a bikini.
‘I also think it would be even better if he implemented it, so I would love to support AB 1267 and support what’s going on in California, even donate to Unchained at Last.’
Stodden said he only realized how inappropriate the sketch was when he watched Pretty Woman for the first time and saw a scene involving Alexander’s on-screen villain Philip Stuckey that left him ‘shocked’.
He said of the draft: ‘I was very manipulated. Even though I didn’t look like a child or what a victim should look like, there was a child buried there. I really trusted the adults around me and that’s the impact of that.
‘When we look back we see that it was really damaging. ‘This isn’t about revisiting my past, it’s about changing the little ones’ experiences going forward so they don’t have to experience what I had to experience.’
The Daily Mail has contacted Alexander and Stodden’s representatives for comment but has yet to receive a response.
In a post on Instagram on Monday, Stodden shared a screenshot from the sketch showing Alexander and the bikini-clad teen holding a cellphone next to her chest.
Stodden said he only realized how inappropriate the sketch was when he watched Pretty Woman for the first time and saw Alexander’s on-screen villain Philip Stuckey, who appeared in the 1990 film alongside Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
Stodden had been the target of tabloid scrutiny and public embarrassment for marrying The Green Mile actor Doug Hutchison when she was 16 and he was 50. The picture was taken in 2012.
‘I was 17 years old in this photo. ‘The older I get, the more impossible it becomes to understand,’ Stodden wrote.
In his post, Stodden emphasized that he was ‘underage’ during the filming and felt ‘very alone’ in a room full of adults.
‘How did so many adults look at an underage child and decide that this was acceptable?’ he asked.
After Stodden’s post went viral, Alexander, who not only starred in but also co-wrote the controversial Funny or Die sketch, expressed his “regret” for the “inappropriate” episode.
“Looking back at the comedy skit that Ms. Stodden and I participated in in 2012, I completely agree that it was inappropriate and I truly regret it,” the Seinfeld alum said in a statement to The Daily Mail on Tuesday.
‘But more importantly I am deeply sorry for any harm or distress this has caused Ms Stodden. I offer him my sincerest apologies.’
Stodden began her Instagram post on Monday by describing the sexual situations in the “comedy skit” in which she wore a red bikini and Alexander starred alongside her in a jacket and shirt.
‘Jason Alexander repeatedly rubbed his phone against my breasts while telling me there was ‘no signal’ in my head but ‘plenty of signal’ on my chest. Later in the sketch, he joked that when I turned 18 he wanted to take me behind the couch and “have his way,” she wrote.
Stodden later stated that Alexander received an IMDb credit as one of the writers of the sketch, which became “harder to understand” over time because he was now an adult.
‘I was underage. I did not have the legal authority to decide whether I wanted to participate or not. “Contracts were signed by adults,” he said.
She claimed that payment for her work on the project went to her then-husband, Hutchison.
Stodden said that, looking back, he did not find any comedic value in his sketch with Alexander.
‘Children deserve laws that protect them,’ Stodden said. ‘They shouldn’t have to be adults before they realize the law should have protected them from the beginning.’
Contacted by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, Stodden’s representative explained that the star “has already said everything he can about this situation.”
‘He wanted to point out that he wasn’t aware of what the scene involved before he arrived. He was informed on the set what his role would be. ‘He was told to bring only one swimsuit.’
Stodden’s representative later accepted Alexander’s apology and then took aim at another TV star who was in Stodden’s orbit during her headline years as a young bride.
‘The biggest surprise isn’t Jason Alexander’s apology. One actor showed more responsibility than Drew, who inserted himself into my story. A child had to be protected.’

‘Dr. When I was 16 Drew had me on his show and put me through an ultrasound to see if my breasts were real or if I was lying about them. I was an underage girl,” Stodden said in her post.
‘I was a kid stuck in a situation that I couldn’t legally get out of. I had no rights back then. ‘The money she paid me to appear on the show went directly to my abuser.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Stodden, Alexander, Hutchison and Pinsky for further comment on the story but has yet to hear back.
