‘Wowsers’: Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac and fiancee Rebecca welcome third child
Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac and his fiancée Rebecca James have welcomed their third child together.
The breakfast show weather presenter announced the arrival of their first son, Miles, on Friday morning’s Sunrise.
The 3.8kg baby was born shortly before 2:20pm on Thursday.
“It’s a boy! Welcome to the world of Miles Samuel McMillan,” the duo wrote in a social media post.
“Bec was an absolute superstar. She’s getting better again. What a woman.”
The couple had been together since 2020 and got engaged in 2023.
She said they were “so excited” to meet their newborn’s two siblings, sisters Margot and Mabel.
“We now have three out of four,” he said.
“Wowsers.”
Speaking on Sunrise on Friday morning, the weatherman said he had had a “rough night” and joked that his hospital fold-out bed was “more like a coffin”.
“I don’t think you realize how hard this is… I mean, can you call this a bed? It’s more like a coffin,” he said.
His fiancée Rebecca said: “How are there complaints coming from this?”
While she felt tired and sore, she said the couple and the baby were “having a great first night so far.”
The couple was inundated with congratulatory messages from colleagues and supporters.
Bondi Vet presenter Chris Brown said: “You guys are incredible. Best little man!”
Fellow Sunrise presenter James Tobin said the arrival was “fantastic news”.
“Congratulations Team Mac,” he wrote.
Journalist Leigh Sales said: “Great Sam, much love xx.”
“It’s fantastic,” former AFL player and radio presenter Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald said.
The announcement comes after arch-rival Today show co-host Sarah Abo announced that she had given birth to a boy named Sunny.
