Russia’s top online retailer hit by in new drone strike

The warehouse of Russia’s leading online retailer Wildberries near St Petersburg caught fire following a drone attack in Ukraine, Governor Alexander Drozdenko said.

Three people were injured Friday, he said.

Wildberries said operations at two logistics facilities in the Leningrad region were suspended.

It was also stated that the personnel in the warehouse in Crimea were also evacuated.

Reuters video of the attack scene showed two giant clouds of black smoke rising in the area.

Five Wildberries warehouses, accounting for approximately 10 percent of the company’s logistics capacity, have been attacked since July 18.

Wildberries said none of its belongings were damaged in the latest attack.

On July 18, eight people lost their lives in attacks on logistics centers in the cities of Kotovsk and Elektrostal.

Kiev said the company was part of the infrastructure supporting the Russian military.

Russia denies that the company, which is at the center of the country’s consumer economy, is involved in any military supplies.

Along with its smaller rivals, Wildberries and its largest rival, Ozon, sell goods and services equivalent to 8.5 percent of Russia’s gross domestic product and employ four million people, more than five percent of the country’s workforce.
