20th edition of Haiti en Folie | Haitian culture in the spotlight

Culinary workshops, percussion, Creole lessons, painting, story reading: Haitian culture was in the spotlight during the Lakay se lakay event, at La Fontaine park in Plateau-Mont-Royal, on Sunday. Stephanie Guerra and her daughter Meidy were able to learn to play the tom-tom during a percussion class. PHOTO JOSIE DESMARAIS Young and old had the chance to add color to the party by visiting a makeup workshop. Little Leeviah chose a pink and orange beach landscape. The Sous le Palmier restaurant offered the great Haitian culinary classics: fried plantain, rice with peas (sticky rice) and fritaille. Sly Toussaint, from the Toussaint center, presented the Haitian Creole alphabet during a course bringing together young and old from all walks of life. At the cooking workshop, we learned how to handle and decorate fondant under the watchful eye of pastry chef Stéphanie Dédé, founder of Dcake pastries.
