Ashok seeks CBI or judicial probe into KPSC ‘irregularities’

Leader of Opposition R. Ashok demanded that the internal inquiry ordered by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) into the appointment of veterinary officers be quashed immediately and the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a judicial inquiry headed by a sitting judge of the Karnataka High Court.

Mr. Ashok has written a letter to the KPSC Chairman in this regard. Accompanied by Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy and former Minister Suresh Kumar, he visited the commission and discussed the issue with the Chairman and Secretary.

“Extremely serious allegations have emerged of bribery of up to ₹80 lakh from candidates in the appointment of veterinary officers. These allegations have shocked the people of the State and thousands of job aspirants. Serious allegations have also been made regarding the role of officials, middlemen and other influential persons. These developments have raised questions about the credibility of the KPSC. In such a situation, it is highly inappropriate and unfair for the KPSC to conduct an internal investigation through its own officers,” said Mr. Ashok.

He demanded a comprehensive investigation into the recruitment of veterinary officers, covering the role of officials, intermediaries, beneficiaries and anyone else linked to the alleged irregularities.
