Unions call for stricter AI restrictions in workplaces

“Artificial intelligence can provide benefits if well -trained and well -supported workers in the use of AI,” ACTU Deputy Secretary Joseph Mitchell said on Tuesday. He said.

Agreements should include occupational safety guarantees, skill development and re -training, transparency, privacy and data collection guards on the use of technology.
Agreements should also be supported by a national artificial intelligence authority and legislation to ensure that the laws adapt to technological changes.

Mitchell, “Basic concerns such as occupational safety is left unprotected, working people will not embrace artificial intelligence,” he said.
“If there is no artificial intelligence implementation contract with an employer’s workers, the company should not be suitable for government financing such as research and development incentives or government contracts.”
The round table, hosted by Treasurer Jim Chalmers, will take place for three days in August.
The focus will be to increase productivity, increase economic resistance and strengthen the sustainability of the country’s budget.
Business leaders, trade unions, government members and experts will contribute to the round table.
