Parliament Monsoon Session Day 7 LIVE: Lok Sabha likely to debate Public Examinations Amendment Bill

MP Randeep Singh Surjewala moves adjournment motion to discuss allegations of police excesses during student protests
Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala moved an Adjournment motion in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the alleged excesses of the police during the student protests.
He demanded that the ordinary business of the day be suspended in the Rajya Sabha “for immediate discussion on the reported attack on peacefully protesting students in Delhi on 20 July 2026, lathi charge, use of tear gas and pellet guns and alleged attack on women students and journalists.”
It also “demanded a statement from the Union Home Minister clarifying whether the use of force was permissible and identifying those responsible, and sought a statement from the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the Government’s response, accountability and safeguards for the future. Given these pressing concerns, the matter requires urgent consideration and discussion by the Parliament”.
