Migration fuels second biggest population rise in 75 years

According to the new figures, the population of England and Wales saw the second largest year of leap in 75 years in 75 years.

The National Statistics Office (Ones) said the population grew by 700,000 last June and was almost completely directed by migration.

The statistical observer said that a small part of the increase is due to the difference between natural change, births and deaths. However, the difference between those who moved to Britain and Wales and those separated to Wales made up 690,147 of the increase.

It was estimated that approximately 1,142,303 people came to England and Wales within 12 months by June 2024, while 452,156 was likely to leave.

According to the National Statistics Office (Ones), in the mid -2024, 61,881 (1.2 percent) increased from 61.1 million to 706,881 (1.2 percent) with an estimated 61.8 million people in England and Wales.

It is the second largest numerical jump behind the rise of 821.210, which took place within 12 months from the middle of 2023 when comparable data has begun since 1949.

Nigel Henretty from Ones said: “The population of England and Wales has increased every year since the mid -1982.

“In recent years, the population growth rate is higher and the increase in the year until 2014 represents the second largest increase in numerical terms for more than 75 years.

“Net international migration continues to be the main driving force of this growth by continuing the long -term tendency seen since the beginning of the century.”

Nigel Farage said that the figures were kat disaster for the quality of life for everyone in the country ”. The reform British leader said: “impossible pressures on public services and divides our communities even more.”

Sir Keir Starmer promised to reduce the high migration of the sky by proceeding with a reform of the conservatives in the government. However, the Prime Minister found himself in hot water after a great conversation about the migration he repeated, Enoch Powell, and faced the risk of being the British “Foreign Island”.

The Prime Minister also said that the number of people entering the country is caused by “inconceivable damage”. Sir Keir, who went further than Tories, gave a ban on hiring care workers from overseas countries, increasing English language requirements for immigrants and tightening access to talented workers’ visas.

The Minister of Interior blamed the sky high figures on the “Toray Migration Heritage”.

Yette Cooper, “failed open boundaries attempts, 2023, even if they promised to reach approximately one million peaks per year, even if they promised to reach clear migration, and during the hours, the net migration was three times higher than the beginning of the last parliament,” he said.

“Under Tories, while training in England, while recruitment, lower skilled migration increased, the ratio of the UK residents fell and hundreds of thousands of people were given a visa to come to England without the need to speak or learn English.”

Cooper said that migration has fallen upright since the general elections.

The number of people living in the UK and Wales has increased every year since the mid -1982, and migration has contributed the most to population growth every year since the mid -1999.

Before then, natural change caused the increase.

The increase in 706,881 in 12 months by June 2024 is the second largest numerical leap of the population since 1949.

Behind only 821.210 increased, in the previous 12 months, from mid -2012 to mid -2023.

This is estimated that the population has grown between June 2022 and June 2024: the largest two -year leap since the start of the existing records.
