Astronaut retires after returning from troubled test flight and extended stay in space
Astronaut Butch Wilmore, a Problem task task The Space Agency left him on Wednesday much longer than expected at the international space station.
Together with the NASA astronaus Sunti Williams, Wilmore was a pilot last year. The spacecraft drew attention worldwide when he had a few serious problems, including rowing cuts and gas leaks, on his way to the space station.
Williams and Wilmore were expected to stay in orbit for about eight days. However, NASA and Boeing tried to determine what was going wrong with their vehicles for weeks and to consider whether Starliner was safe to move the astronauts home.
The space agency ultimately decided that turning the duo to the Earth in Starliner was a very risky offer. NASA announced last August that Williams and Wilmore would join the next International Space Station crew, and that SpaceX would join with two other astronauts in the crew-9 mission, and stay in the laboratory for a few more months.
Williams and Wilmore finally returned home in March – nine months after leaving Earth. As the astronauts work in the staff rotation missions, such a stay in the orbit is not rare because they routinely live at the space station for six months or longer.

‘Fortitude Heritage’
Both astronauts maintained their position that they were completely ready for their extended stay in space, and each for the first time they understand the risks and uncertainty associated with flying a spacecraft.
Williams and Wilmore say that they are “abandoned”, “stuck” or “trapped” in space.
“This was the first day of the first day: he was trapped, abandoned, stuck – and we understand, we both understand. “Help us to change the narrative, let’s change: prepared and determined despite what you hear. This is what we prefer.”

Wilmore, a naval officer and test pilot who served as 21 war mission, joined NASA’s astronaut corps in 2000.
The space shuttle flew in three tasks in its 25 -year service, including a trip to the space station in an Atlantis and a Russian Soyuz space station.
In particular, when a SpaceX capsule returned to Earth in March, Wilmore said that if the opportunity is given, Boeing would fly to one of the Starliner capsules.
