Hiroshima Day: ‘Never Again’ echoes in Gaza 2025 | The Canberra Times

Before Hiroshima, propaganda described the Japanese as a six -fanatic. Narratives to destroy empathy make the unbearable one acceptable. Palestinians in Gaza are experiencing a similar process. It was grouped together, removed from individual stories and pain, and reduced to numbers or abstract threats. Their pain is underestimated, their deaths are justified and their right to exist were questioned. Removing this humanity creates the emotional distance required to suffer and accept tremendous pain. The faces of the children withdrawn from the rubble resemble the memorable images of burned children in Hiroshima, and moral disconnection should shatter this distance. Still, not too often.
