Millions to receive emergency alert in ‘largest public safety exercise in British history’

The UK is preparing for the ları largest public security exercise in British history ”next month because a mobile phone is an emergency warning test.
Millions of smartphones in 4G and 5G networks throughout the UK will make a loud siren -like noise and vibrate at 15:00 on September 7.
The trial is part of the Emergency Warning System designed to stimulate disasters such as storm or forest fires.
“This test will be one of the biggest public security exercises in the history of our country,” Cabinet Minister Pat McFadden said.
“From big storms to fires, this system can save your life in an emergency,” he said. “Just like a fire alarm in your home, it is important to test the system, so we know it will work if we need it.”

McFadden, the first test was in April 2023. Since then, five warnings have been sent, including large storms where lives are at risk.
In January, the government used the system to warn people in Scotland and Northern Ireland to warn violent weather during Storm Eowyn.
In December, Wales and about 3.5 million people in South-West England received a warning during Storm Darragh.
In February last year, a warning with a 500kg World War II bomb in the backyard of a Plymouth backyard was also triggered.
The warning will read: “This is an emergency warnings test, which is a United Kingdom government service that will warn you if there is a life -threatening emergency.
“You do not need to do any action. In a real emergency, follow the warning instructions to keep yourself and others safe. Find simple and effective advice on how to prepare for emergencies in Gov.uk/Prepare.”
Japan has similar emergency warning systems due to frequent earthquakes and tsunams. The US also has a warning system.
In 2018, a warning was sent to Hawai residents by accidentally that US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was exchanged nuclear threats, saying that a ballistic missile had arrived.
Authorities accused of false communication during a exercise and resigned from the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency Chief Gaf.
