Congress Slams ECI, Fadnavis In Mumbai Protest Over ‘Vote Theft’ Allegations

Mumbai: On Friday, the Maharashtra Congress organized a flash protest against the Indian Election Commission (ECI) in Mumbai, and accused of prejudice and guilt in the claim of voter fraud during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The protest near the Congress’s Tilak Bhavan office in Dadar lasted more than 30 minutes and led to significant traffic cuts.
Harshvardhan Sumpal, Chairman of the State Congress, leads the demonstration of the participation of senior leaders such as Mohan Joshi, Anant Gadgil and Party spokesman Atiul Londhe. Protesters aimed at the government under the leadership of both ECI and BJP led by both ECI and BJP.
The protest watched the press conference of Mr. Sapal in Tilak Bhavan, where Maharashtra Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a frightening attack. Sumpal, called ECI’s “cheap minister” and “dalal” (broker), said, “The prime minister in Maharashtra should not be very respected, but Mr. Fadnavis should not act like a ‘cheap minister’ when he could not protect the oath of the Constitution.
The words of the Congress leader came one day after Mr. Fadnavis rejected Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “theft of votes in Maharashtra, and said that the congress leader’s brain was either stolen or a chip was missing.
Mr. Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, accused BJP and ECI of the 2024 general elections on Thursday, especially in the seats such as Bangalore Central. He claimed that 1.00.250 votes were stolen.
Mr. Sapal, defended Mr. Gandhi’s accusations and offered significant evidence and said that BJP leaders resorted to personal attacks to direct attention. “The language used by Mr. Fadnavis against Mr. Gandhi raises serious questions: Does ECI act as a broker, lawyer or spokesman?
The Chief of the State Congress also claimed that his party had made objections during and after the voting process and that a few candidates were petitioned in the Supreme Court. The proof of the election fraud was presented to ECI at that time. “BJP is only trying to confuse people,” he added.
The Maharashtra Congress has announced that it plans to intensify its agitation in the coming weeks, and to protest the voter fraudsters and demand accountability from ECI.
