Dakshina Kannada Police Crack Down on Fake, Communal Social Media Posts

Barbecue: Over the last three months, Dakshina Kannada regional police reserved a few rumors, false information and provocative content to social media, which aims to disturb social harmony.
Police Inspector Dr. Arun K said that the abuse of online platforms to wandering the half facts and stories produced has become a serious difficulty for the law and order. Investigations have shown that many complaints and viral tasks, which initially foreseen as social events, were actually produced or distorted. Cases against both individuals and organizers, including educated people, were recorded.

In another case, Umar Farooq from Nandavara claimed that two men attacked him with a sword. The police then found the complaint to be produced by registering a lawsuit against him.
There were also attempts to socially introduce unrelated events. False behavior complaints in Panemangalore were circulated in fake common tones, but the researchers confirmed that the criminal was a child of the same community. Similarly, a viral video of a boy and girl harassed in Puttur was in partnership, but all of them belonged to the same community.
On July 14, after being found with a sword near the Bolwar Mosque, a man was reserved within the scope of the Law of Weapons in Puttur. Following this, Ashraf Bavu’nun, the man trying to storm the mosque, the messages, Hindutva’nın hate speech as an effect on the messages. Police said the task was designed to provoke social hostility.

The authority called for citizens to verify the content before sharing, and applied to the media to play a proactive role in revealing the people behind such false information.
