Strict post-Brexit rules for British tourists travelling to EU set to come into force

The British traveling to Europe this fall in this autumn should have to prove that there is a health insurance under strict new border rules and a return ticket to the UK.

Passengers from the UK will have to scan fingerprints and faces to cross an EU border under the new system coming to the European Union, which entered into force on October 12th.

Non -EU citizens, stamps in their passports, will be released for six months and will be replaced with biometric controls under the plan that will be completely implemented until April 2026.

Anyone who refuses to provide biometric data will be entered into the EU. Special cabinets will be installed in airports, ports and train stations to scan and take photos of travelers.

In addition to new biometric requirements, the UK travelers can be asked a series of questions to verify the details of their travels. These include accommodation proof of adequate funds, details of health insurance, and a return or advanced ticket evidence. Times notified.

These questions will usually be answered in automatic kiosks, but everyone who answers “no” can be referred to a border officer for further control.

Since Brexit, EU border agents have already been able to ask these questions of British passport holders, but most of them have just explored passengers they were not sure of. The travel industry bodies now believe that after the new plan started in October, it will change.

Travel Trade Organ ABTA Public Relations Director Luke Petherbridge said, “Most EES control is because these questions will be asked more people than in the past [entry/exit system] It will be done in a kiosk.

“The primary function is to digitize the limit.

Once people provide biometric data, this registration will be valid for three years. The presentation was initially planned for November 2023, but was postponed due to concerns that it could cause long queues.

The British government warned that the passengers are “ready to wait in busy times” when the plan began.

The EU said that changes would strengthen border security and reduce illegal migration. In 2026, the EU will also offer a new travel authorization system. Within the scope of this process, the UK travelers will have to apply for authorization to enter the 29 countries of Schengen. Passengers will have to pay € 20 to provide personal information and details about their trips and to visit.

The rules after Brexit limit the British who do not have EU residence or business rights within a maximum of 90 days over 180 days.
