The Scottish Fire Department and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesman said: “On Sunday, August 10 at 16:00, we were warned for an open fire report in Arthur’s Edinburgh seat.

“Operations control has mobilized four fire devices and expert sources in the area where firefighters were trying to extinguish a fire that affected a large Gord.

“There is no loss reported at the moment and the crew is staying at the scene.”

The scared eyewitness tells about watching the flames while hurling down the hill

A scared eyewitness said he watched the flames spread as he moved towards Arthur’s seat.

Nick Brice from Brighton told the BBC Scotland News: “We could see these small smoke feathers on the back of the far side and just grew up.

“Suddenly we could see that these flames began to emerge, and people realized that it was spread quickly.

“The smoke really began to be built, and then these flames began to cover the ridges, and we noticed that the wind blows it towards us.

“We had to go down quickly because it would come across the whole region.”

Mr. Brice said he was still involved in the hill to come back.

“Now all the slope covered with flames and goes down the road we walk.”
