‘Disgust’: US diplomat attacks ALP’s Palestine decision
The American Ambassador of Israel reached Australia’s decision to get to know Palestine, saying that the US was “disappointed” from the decision.
Mike Huckabee, who was appointed as the ambassador by President Donald Trump in April, said the US was surprised by the announcement of the Federal government on Monday.
“There is a very tremendous disappointment and a little disgust,” he said, ABC said in a 7.30 program on Thursday night.
Mr. Huckabee criticized the timing of the state announcement.
“Australia and other countries may have done by accident, Israel is to push what they are fully afraid,” he said.
He continued: “As a result, it was to completely stop any thoughtful negotiation.”
Prime Minister Anthony Albanian will officially recognize Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York in September.
Australia’s decision announced the plans of the other Western allies – England, France and Canada – to recognize the state at the summit under certain conditions.
The aim is to end the violence cycle in Gaza, when the designated terrorist group Hamas attacked Southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killed 1200 people and took about 250 hostages.
Federal Minister Mark Butler tried to underestimate the comments of the ambassador.
“At the end of the day, this is the Israeli Ambassador – the work between the United States and Israel.”
“We were convinced that this was the right decision at the right time to help improve acceleration to break this cycle of violence.”
Mr. Huckabe said that the US did not “preside” about the Australian decision, while Foreign Minister Penny Wong informed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio before being open to public.
Mr. Butler rejected that the US was not informed.
“There is a reading from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about this conversation, Mr Mr. Butler said.
“We were convinced that we made the right decision.
He continued: “It was not taken slightly. Weeks and weeks were taken after taking into account.”
Liberal Senator Jane Hume said that Americans on both sides of politics were shocked by the state’s decision.
“This decision by the workers’ government surprised the Americans, (Government) (Government) (Government) (Government) has left a strong alliance between Israel and America and Australia for years to make this decision unilaterally.”
He continued: “This will bring the peace process back for weeks, potentially months, even years.”
According to local health officials, Israel’s Hamas war in Gaza killed approximately 62,000 Palestinians, including 18,000 children.
The UN projects face 2.1 million people in Gaza with high levels of acute food insecurity, while 470,000 people face catastrophic food insecurity.
Hamas still did not release all of Israeli hostages.
Albania, Australia’s recognition depends on a commitment that Hamas did not play a role in a future Palestinian state.
Approximately 150 out of 193 UN member states have already recognized the Palestinian province, including EU countries, Spain and Ireland.
The coalition promised to reverse Australia’s position if he wins the next election.
