Maharashtra Opposition Parties Protest Against Meat Ban On Independence Day

Mumbai:A few parts of Maharashtra witnessed the protests of the opposition parties against the ban on meat. Live roosters and chickens, Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS supporters, Kalyan-Dombalı Municipal Company (KDMC) joined the demonstrations outside the headquarters. Former Aimim MP Itiyaz Jalil Bireyani party in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The protests outside the KDMC center in Kalyan saw the participation of many opposition parties, meat sellers associations and community groups. By holding live roosters and chickens, they raised slogans to close the local civilian body to close the meat shops and slaughterhouses on Independence Day.

The protests led by Sachin Pote Sachin Pote, President of the Congress Region, demanded an immediate return of the ban. “A cock awakens people in the morning. Today we brought a rooster to awaken the administration today.

KDMC recently published an order stating that all slaughterhouses and licensed goats, sheep, chicken and large animals should stay closed from midnight to midnight midnight for 24 hours. If the order is violated, 1949 Maharashtra warned under the current company law.

IMTIAZ JALEEL, the leader of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, organized a ‘Biryani Party’ in his residence to express that he was opposed to his movement.

“I cooked a chicken with a vegetarian meal. The municipal commissioner comes and if he wants to eat vegetarians.

“Such things should be stopped. This unfortunate decision was taken due to the Day of Independence,” he added.

Jaleel also hit the Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis, if the cm had directed the commissioner to withdraw the order, the issue would end there.

“They say we can eat (meat), but will not be presented on the market. What is the government trying to win by giving such orders?” Jaleel asked.

In addition to Kdmc and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nashik, municipal companies in Nashik gave similar orders that led to a political order in the state.

While the opposition parties criticized the movement, BJP argued that the policy of keeping Abattoirs off on the day of independence was first implemented in 1988, when NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar was the chief minister.

CM Fadnavis clearly stated that the state government is not interested in regulating food choices of people and defined the order on Abattoir closes as a “unnecessary” debate.
