Thorne Island: Abandoned fortress transformed into party island with its own nightclub – and it could be yours

A stray historical castle, which has been empty for 17 years, has been transformed into a ready party island completed with its own nightclub.

The Island of Thorne once was hosting up to 100 civil servants who once ruled a Napoleon Castle in the 19th century, which is to protect the nearby Milford Haven, a large naval base on the Pembrokeshire coast.

It was transformed into a hotel in 1947 and was hired for birthday parties, weddings and deer parties before it was sold in 1999.

Despite the suggestions to re -open a hotel on the site, which was completed with a new cable car, Mike Conner, a former software CEO, was empty and grew for 17 years until he lifted for £ 555,000 in May 2017.

Now, after the five -year careful renovation of the building materials delivered through the helicopter, the island can be yours for 3 million pounds.

The island, which extends to almost 2.5 acres, boasts a panoramic coastal view and more than 8,000 square meters accommodation with a helicopter track and nightclub.

Mr Conner, who hosts a festival there for his 50th birthday, hopes who will take him.

He thinks that operating as a touristic attraction has a great potential or plays the landlord for “the most incredible praise” without neighbors.

Mr. Conner said the site offers an incredible 24 -hour experience “with the potential to host about 800 people.

He said BBC When he undertook the big project, he did not know what I was entering for myself ”.

“There is no electricity, water, and there was no food or waste to return,” he said.

“When I first said I bought it, my wife was quite crossed, she said she would stay after having a flushing toilet, it’s quite reasonable.”

The cost of reaching the milestone was £ 200,000 after discovering that a 16FT rock should cut to reach a biodiester pump.

The workers remained on the island in two -week shifts using a generator to charge their phones and wash their phones at sea.

Now the project is completed, according to the listing with visitors, real estate agents, the large open plan reception is covered by a large entrance hall with open traditional bricks, vaulted ceiling, double -length wing windows and wood stove. Strutt & Parker.

The kitchen is a modern, equipped kitchen and wood stove, open brick works and sea view adjacent to a comfortable plan. Currently five bedrooms sleep up to 20 guests.

It has a series of renewable energy systems such as a 100kWh battery storage PV Sun screen, hot water and underfloor heating and 250,000 liter rain harvesting system, which is completely out of the grill.
