Tourists flee from Italian international airport as man ‘sets fire to check in desk’ during rampage before being pinned down

A man at Milan’s Malpensa Airport was detained after a man was allegedly smashed the check-in screens with a hammer and opened fire with the attacking staff.

The unnamed suspect was caught by employees in Terminal 1 on Wednesday after being reported to accelerate with a hammer at the airport.

Images from the airport, passengers trying to escape from the stage showed black smoke through the terminal.

The images later showed that a suspect was fixed to the ground. Local media reported that it was stopped by personnel.

Italian Outlet Varese News said that an employee intervened after realizing that the smoke risen at the airport as he was. Allegedly ‘Destruction of screens between 12 and 13’.

The employee was said to have been injured in Fracas before he was delivered to emergency services.

‘Together with him, some of the present intervened to prevent the attacker from attacking people.’

The border police tried to help restrict the man while the airport security personnel were trying to extinguish the fire.

The next photos showed thick smoke in the air as the audience watched with their hands on their hips.

Firefighters, airport personnel and security personnel were depicted at the scene.

Varese reported that the airport continues to work as usual.

No motivation was clear from the first reports. The suspect was reported to have been taken to a holding cell by Polaria officers who are trying to create a motive.
