Private vehicles choke Mumbai’s roads, BEST buses account for less than 1 pc

Special vehicles, two -wheeled vehicles and cars, the city’s 50 lacch plus vehicle population of approximately 88 percent, while public transport buses make up less percent than a report.

According to the “Environmental Situation Report 2024-25 of the Bihanmumba Municipality Company, Mumbai’s vehicle population exceeded the 50-lacate sign in 2024-25 and an increase in 2023 from 45,37,211 to 47,59,976 to 2025 in 2025.

60.87 percent of the new registered vehicles were two -wheeled devices, 23.94 percent of cars, jeeps and station wagons, taxis and cabins 6.26 percent, 3.06 percent and goods were formed. In particular, 91 percent of the total fleet consists of environmentally friendly CNG and electric buses.

“At the end of 2027, the best fleet will include all electrical buses. This will help reduce the pollution of the city of Mumbai because it will be reduced by 3.18,296 tons CO2 per year by these buses.”
