Online Gaming Industry representatives meet Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

New Delhi [India]September 1: On Monday, Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Minister of Union Electronics and Information Technology met with representatives of the online game industry.

According to sources, discussion focused on encouraging espor and social games. The points related to regular transition and protection of the user’s money were also discussed. The industry took steps to ensure compliance with the Law.

On Friday, August 22, President Droupadi Murmu approved the promotion and regulation of the online game invoice in 2025, adopted by Parliament this week. The bill was brought to encourage e-sports and online social games while prohibiting harmful online money game services, ads and related financial transactions.

The draft aims to offer, operate or facilitate online money, regardless of whether it is based on skills, chances or both. The bill was spent on Wednesday at Del Sabha and a day later in Rajya Sabha. The introduction and editing of the online game invoice aims to introduce e-sports and online social games while prohibiting online money games.

There will be no penalty for those who play online money games; Sources are only service providers, advertisers, supporters and those who will face these games financially. Through this legislation, the government aims to encourage e-sports and to be legally recognized. This bill will help to provide legal support to e-sports.

Previously, he said there was no legal support for e-sports. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will create a special framework for the promotion of e-sports, which are considered as a legitimate competitive sports form in India. The government will also encourage online social games. The government believes that even excessive consequences such as dependence damages, financial losses and suicides associated with online money games can be prevented by prohibiting such activities.

“Our goal was to introduce and promote the good parts, to make India a center of play, we have established the ICT, the Indian Creative Technologies and Game Institute, so that the better parts of the society, the good parts of the community that cannot harm the community are not to benefit.”

Meanwhile, on Monday, Meity Secretary S Krishnan said that online games in India will soon be subject to new rules. ICEA – Semiconductor Product Design Leadership Forum said that the notification will not last long on the sides of 2025.

“As I mentioned earlier, I cannot set a definite date at the moment, but this is something that will come into force quite quickly and we are taking all the necessary steps in this regard,” he said. (MOMENT)
