New Zealand Great Ross Taylor Out of Retirement to Play For Samoa

Wellington: New Zealand Cricket Great Ross Taylor announced on Friday that Samoa had left retirement about four years after leaving it to help him participate in the Twenty20 World Cup next year.

The 41 -year -old former Blackcaps captain said that representing the country of his mother’s birth would be a “great honor”.

He said, “I am proud to announce that I would shoot the blue and represent Samoa in a jack.”

“This is a great honor to represent my inheritance, culture, my villages and my family.

“I am excited to return to the game, join the squad and share my experience on the field and outside the field.”

Taylor has played 450 times for New Zealand in all three forms, including 112 tests.

At the beginning of 2022, he attracted Black Jersey and he was entitled to represent Samoa in April after the necessary waiting period before changing the commitment.

“I always wanted to give back some capacity, but I didn’t know I would go back to the game capacity.” He said.

“I thought you’d always coach and coach small children and that I can do my best. But something I expect to get into the game side.”

Taylor, Samoa’s hosts and Group 3 Papua New Guinea in October, the World Cup in Oman will endure the Asia-Pacific qualifying series in Oman.

The teams are divided into three groups of three groups, the first two of each group proceed to the Super Six scene.

At the end of the Super Six, the first three of them win the 2026 World Cup and Sri Lanka in India.
