Australians arrested over alleged plot to arm rebels who kidnapped Kiwi pilot

The police claim that men have also discussed the supplying of Australian military firearms for rebels.

The NSW man went to Indonesia between March and April last year to meet with the TPNPB, and was allegedly carried out illegal to Indonesia.

A month after the release of Mehrtens, the officers raided men’s homes in the Logan suburb of Eagleby in Urunga, NSW and Queensland.

In NSW property, they seized more than 13 kilograms of mercury metals, a controlled substance.

Both of the couple were accused of conspiracy to import Tier 2 goods, which are sentenced to a maximum of 10 years of imprisonment.

The NSW man also faces a series of charges, including conspiracy and illegal weapons to export Tier 2 goods, to ban firearms banned from Australia.

He took part in the Coffs Harbor Local Court on Friday. It is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrate Court in October.

Queensland is also guaranteed and is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane court in October.

“This operation is sending a clear message – those who want to profit from the illegal smuggling of firearms will be defined and prosecuted,” Queensland Police Service will be identified and prosecuted.

New Zealand police and Deputy Commissioner Mike Pannett said Mehrtens’ kidnapping investigation is complex with a number of judicial powers and difficulties.

“Our focus was always the safe return of Phillip Mehrtens. Even though we were satisfied, Mr. Mehrtens was released and returned to his family, working closely with the Australian police agencies is an important part of protecting our community in New Zealand.”
