Nepal’s prime minister urges calm after deadly protests

Nepal’s new prime minister began to work and “called for calm and reconstruction of cooperation”, at least 72 people died in days of violent protests and destroyed government buildings and politicians’ homes.

The headquarters of the Prime Minister were set on fire with Kathmandu, President, Supreme Court, Lock Government Ministries and various police stations that turned into an office in the capital.

The businesses and houses of key families, including several stores of a popular supermarket chain, were also attacked.

After the army seized the control of the streets that night, it was restored calm and the negotiations between the protesters, the army and the president began on a temporary government.

73 -year -old Carki was elected as the new prime minister on Friday.

In 2016 and 2017, he was a popular figure in the court as the only female chief justice of the court and was known for his stance against corruption in the government.

New parliamentary elections were held on March 5th.
