Court denies bail to two accused in Mirwaiz Moulvi Farooq’s assassination case

Mirwaiz Moulvi Mohammad Farooq assassination of the defendant’s bail applications were rejected by the Court of Terrorist and Destructive Activities in Jammu on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Applications were moved by Javid Bhat and Zahoor Bhat, who was arrested by the J & K Police Special Investigation Agency (SIA) in 2023 after 33 years. Hearing bail applications for medical reasons, Tada Court refused to give the same thing.
Mr Farooq, the father of the leading religious and political figure and the father of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, was assassinated in 1990 by armed people. The Central Investigation Office described Hizbul Mujahideen ‘commanders’ Abdullah Bangroo and Rehman Shigan as the ones behind the conspiracy. CBI accused Javid Bhat and Zahoor of the attack. Both defendants are the inhabitants of Srinagar.
According to police records, Bangroo and Shigan were killed in encounters with security forces. Ayub, another defendant, was sentenced to life imprisonment. When the security forces opened fire at the funeral after the assassination, Srinagar was killed in Hawal at least 35 years old.
In 2023, the police said that the two secretly returned to Kashmir a few years ago ”.
“Low -profile, changing addresses and changing the houses, they avoided the gaze of law enforcement officers,” he said.
