Disgraced former MP Gareth Ward returns to court

The infamous former NSW Independent MP Gareth Ward will once again encounter the court on Friday after being found guilty of sexual harassment to two young men.

Kiama deputy was detained in July after being guilty by a fourth number of relations without three immoral attacks and consent.

About two months later, Ward is expected to appear again in front of Judge Kara Shead SC at the Parramat Regional Court on Friday, where he will be punished by both sides.

In 2013, he was convicted of the attack of two young men, a 18 -year -old man in Meroo Meadow and a 24 -year -old man in Potts Point in 2015.

Ward, who started his political career in 2011, became a liberal member for Kiama in 2011, a seat he held until he had a guilty decision.

Ward resigned in August this year and was expected to go before the legislative Assembly to expel him.

The movement came after Ward’s lawyers challenging the appeal court.

Following the guilty decision, Ward shared a statement that thanked him for his ongoing support for the community.

“I was absolutely shattered by the hearing and I had the opportunity to spend time with the people I love after the decision in the last few days,” Ward said.

Two victims

The court said that during the long trial of Ward during the Darlinghurst Regional Court, he and one of his complaints, who were a political personnel in 2015, participated in an event in the NSW Parliament Building before returning to Ward’s apartment.

The court was told that Ward met the second victim three months before the attack and they were friends.

The night in question was at a party in the Shoalhaven region before the complainant left and invited him to the excused Meadow house and offered to pay for a taxi journey.

The court was told that the 18 -year -old child and Ward continued to drink at home together before the young man went out and put them on the grass.

The man said that Ward was trying to attract his attention and put both his hands on him, then put his hand on the man’s pants without warning and touched his hips.

The man said to the court that he was “frozen, and the politician remembered the fact that Ward was“ heavy breathing ”as he moved his hand to the genital area at that time.

The man then said that he wanted to sleep and the couple came in, the politician told him that he shouldn’t sleep alone.

Ward directed the man towards the deputy’s bedroom, where the man looked at the bed.

The sacrifice told the court that Ward was “assembled” and sat on his hips, and then started massaging his back.

The man told the court that the massage ended at the end and they slept.

Ward for the accusations faces a maximum of five years imprisonment for an inappropriate attack and for sexual intercourse without consent and 14 years of imprisonment for sexual intercourse.

Ward’s last -minute resignation triggered a contentious election in Kiama last weekend and claimed the victory of Labour.

Meanwhile, Ward’s house in Meroo Meadows north of Bomaderry was offered for sale last month and is currently sitting empty.
