Police officer shot, rushed to hospital as suburb locked down
A police officer has been shot while responding to a disturbance at a property on the Fraser Coast.
Police went to a home in Yengarie, about three hours north of Brisbane, to conduct a welfare check at around 5.45pm.
On arrival they attempted to engage a man on the property before shooting an officer in the leg.
The officer was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
As of 21:00, police were at the scene and trying to contact the man.
It was declared on Friday after the Public Safety Protection Act (PSPA) remained in effect. Residents within the exclusion zone have been asked to stay indoors or avoid the area.
