World famous shop with ‘sandwiches the size of your face’ finally opening in UK | UK | News

A world -famous Italian “Schiaccicata” chain with larger sandwiches than a human head needs to open its first store in London. All’antico Vinaio started from the modest beginnings in Florence, but it had stores in 48 locations around the world, which covers Italy, USA and the United Arab Emirates.

The company will open 10 more stores by the end of 2025 and this year aims to obtain a turnover of £ 87 million annually. The owner Tommaso Mazzanti will be given a traditional Florentine Observation with the first 500 guests at the Soho Store on Saturday, a free Schiacciata.

Mazzanti said: “I am honored to open our first position in an important city in England, especially in London. This points to an important milestone in All’antico Vinaio’s growth and we hope to increase our success in the USA

“This is the seventh country where we open AV, which is due to our passion for sharing an Italian kitchen tradition with the world.”

The company, which employs more than 700 people on its sites, will open its first UK restaurant in Soho on 61 Old Compton Street.

The London menu will include signature classics of the brand, such as La Favolosa, La Schiaccicata Del Boss and La Toscana, and only expertise created for this place.

The official opening is planned on September 20 with a lane cutting ceremony at 11.00.

The restaurant was founded in 1991 by the Mazzanti family and started to strengthen the power in the last 30 years.

In 2014, it was a household name throughout Italy, the restaurant was the most reviewed dining organization in the world in Tripadvisor.

The current boss Tommaso Mazzanti joined his family’s business only at the age of 16 and controlled the expansion to this point, and when he founded Milan sites, he opened his first place outside Florence in 2020.

In recent years, the opening represents the latest foreign hospitality to spread its wings to England after the traces of brands such as Five Guys, Wedny’s Taco Bell and Shake Shack.

However, it comes at a timely struggle for many hospitality businesses, as they struggle to meet the increasing cost of increasing national insurance contributions, increasing the minimum wage conditions, rising energy bills and inflation.
