World Cup 2026: England defender Marc Guehi fitness worry with hamstring injury

England defender Marc Guehi is suffering from a minor hamstring injury and could miss the World Cup quarter-final against Norway.
Guehi complained of a muscle problem following England’s win over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.
It was initially hoped that the defender was suffering from muscle fatigue and would be ready for Saturday’s match against Norway.
However, it was learned that the Manchester City defender suffered a hamstring injury.
Now we will see if Guehi can train with the team on Friday.
If he fails to do so, there will be great doubts about his ability to join Norway.
While the problem is not considered serious, England head coach Thomas Tuchel is unlikely to risk fitness against defenders as he must deal with seven-goal Erling Haaland.
It was learned that England midfielder Declan Rice missed training for the second consecutive day due to health problems.
Rice suffered from a neurological condition affecting his hamstrings and lower back, which was made worse by the disease.
The UK has taken steps to ensure the bug does not spread.
The good news for Tuchel is that first-choice right-back Reece James has returned to full training for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in the goalless draw against Ghana.
The right-back did not complete the full session, but James is expected to be ready to face Norway this weekend if he does not feel any ill effects from Thursday’s session.
Tuchel and his team will need to decide whether James is fit to start or will be among the substitutes.
