Benjamin Netanyahu reveals secret prostate cancer diagnosis but says he has now received clean bill of health

Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu revealed his secret prostate cancer diagnosis and assured the public that he has since received a clean bill of health.
The 76-year-old man first underwent surgery to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia on December 29, 2024, according to a medical report released by his office on Friday.
The procedure at Hadassah Medical Center was described as successful and without complications.
But a routine follow-up MRI detected a suspicious lesion in the prostate less than a millimeter in size.
Subsequent diagnostic tests confirmed the presence of early-stage prostate cancer without evidence of metastasis.
The cancer has been treated and Netanyahu said he is now healthy and in ‘excellent physical condition’.

‘I want to share three things with you,’ he wrote on social media: ‘1 – Thank God, I am healthy. 2 – My physical condition is excellent. 3 – I had a minor medical issue with my prostate and it was completely treated. Thank God it’s behind me.”

‘I had successful surgery for benign prostatic hyperplasia a year and a half ago and have been under routine medical supervision ever since,’ he wrote.
‘At the last check-up, a spot smaller than a centimeter was discovered in the prostate. ‘Upon examination, it was revealed that this was a very early stage of a malignant tumor, with no spread or metastasis.’
Doctors said it was so common among men his age that he had two options: Leave it untreated but with frequent monitoring, or get treatment and have the problem eliminated.
‘You already know me. “When I am informed in a timely manner about a potential danger, I want to intervene immediately in this situation,” Netanyahu wrote.
‘This is true both at the national level and at the personal level. That’s what I did. I received targeted treatment which eliminated the problem and left no scars. I went for a few short treatments, read books, and continued working.
‘The dot has completely disappeared. Thank God I overcame this. “I want to thank the doctors and wonderful medical teams at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem,” he said.
The statement comes as the Israeli leader is due to visit the White House in the coming weeks as the United States tries to reach a long-term agreement on the war with Tehran.
Following the conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah, Israel’s ceasefire with Lebanon was also extended for three weeks following talks between the countries’ ambassadors in Washington DC.
This is breaking news, more to come
