Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s flagship group is considering launching a new airline in a move that could potentially reshape competition in a market dominated by IndiGo and Air India.

Here are the details of Adani Group’s other businesses:

Airports:The group, which entered the sector in 2019, operates eight airports in India, including Mumbai, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram, through its flagship company Adani Enterprises, which operates in highways, real estate and infrastructure.

Port operations: Adani Ports is India’s largest private operator by volume and manages 15 domestic ports, including the country’s busiest private port, Mundra, in the western state of Gujarat.

Apart from India, Adani Ports has four ports in Australia, Colombo, Israel and Tanzania.

Cement: The group entered the sector in 2022 and signed its largest ever deal in the sector by acquiring Holcim AG’s shares in Ambuja Cements and ACC. It was on an acquisition spree with the aim of taking out UltraTech Cement, India’s largest cement maker.

Energy: It mines thermal coal and produces energy through its utility company Adani Power, delivered through Adani ‌Energy ⁠Solutions.

Adani Green Energy focuses on solar, wind and hybrid power generation and operates in a dozen states of India.

Adani Total Gas distributes piped natural gas and is operated in partnership with TotalEnergies.

Data centers: In May, the group partnered with Uber to set up the ride-hailing platform’s first data center in India. In February, the group said it would invest $100 billion to build AI-ready data centers powered by renewable energy by 2035, joining a number of companies increasing investments to position India as a rival in the global AI race.

Media: In 2022, Adani Group acquired a majority stake in Quintillion Business Media, a financial news digital media platform. The group has struck deals to control majority stakes in news broadcaster NDTV in 2022 and news agency IANS in 2023.
