Adelaide: India’s superstar opener Rohit Sharma etched his name in history by becoming the first Indian batsman to score 1,000 runs in the India-Australia ODI matches held on Australian soil on Thursday.

Rohit reached the milestone in the second ODI against Australia at the Adelaide Oval. He is rivaled by Virat Kohli, who is currently second with 802 runs, in the race to become India’s top run-scorer against Australia in ODIs.

The Hitman scored 1071 runs (including four hundreds and three fifties) on home soil against Australia in 21 matches at an average of 56.36 and a strike rate of 89.32, with a best score of 171*.
