Courteney Cox previously admitted she made ‘mistakes’ that led to her first split from Snow Patrol star Johnny McDaid after it was revealed the pair had split.
The Mail On Sunday shared that the couple quietly went their separate ways last year after more than a decade, with sources describing the separation as ‘extremely amicable’.
Courteney and Johnny split in 2015 after meeting in 2013 and got back together a few months later, and the Friends star continued to ponder the cause of their relationship’s problems.
The actress admitted in 2016 that she had become ‘addicted’ to Johnny and said she didn’t know ‘how to look at love’ like him.
She said: ‘We were engaged for over a year and then we broke up.
‘He comes from Ireland. And his perspective on love is very valuable. We need to handle this differently. This is more special; You’re spoiling him.’

Speaking about Running Wild with Bear Grylls, Courteney added: ‘I’ve definitely made a lot of mistakes from what I’ve seen; whether it’s codependency or people-pleasing. I didn’t know how to bring him in. ‘He was always out.’
The Mail On Sunday revealed this weekend that Courteney and Johnny ended their relationship late last year.
Known to millions for her iconic role as Monica Geller on the ’90s sitcom Friends, Courteney lives in Los Angeles; McDaid, 49, who was born in Northern Ireland, lives mostly in London, although the couple tended to split their time between the US and UK.
Confirming their split, a friend said: ‘Johnny speaks incredibly highly of Courteney. They had a very deep relationship and remain extremely friendly. They are great friends and care about each other very much.
‘This wasn’t an ugly split. ‘They had reached a point where they were living different lives.’
Cox and McDaid, who have become some of the world’s most successful behind-the-scenes songwriters, began dating in 2013 after meeting through mutual friends, including Ed Sheeran.
McDaid is one of Sheeran’s long-time friends and collaborators and has co-written some of his biggest hits, including Shape Of You, Photograph, Galway Girl, Bad Habits and Shivers.
She and Cox announced their engagement the following year, and although they briefly split in late 2015, they reconciled in 2016 and have been together ever since.

Cox has said in interviews that she is ‘thankful’ for the breakup because it made their relationship even better. McDaid also talked about how ‘lucky’ he feels to be in a relationship with the actor.
The couple was spotted on a double date with Cox’s Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston and her boyfriend, wellness expert Jim Curtis, in Malibu, California, last August.
They were last photographed together at the US Open in September.
Since the split, both Cox and McDaid are said to have moved on with their lives.
It appears McDaid is in the early stages of a new relationship.
Meanwhile, Cox was recently spotted in New York with her Shining Vale co-star Greg Kinnear, who was staying at his home. Despite playing husband and wife in the satirical horror comedy, the duo confirmed that they are just good friends.
She also remained close to her ex-husband David Arquette, with whom she shares daughter Coco, and friends say the ex-couple have long been a strong and friendly co-parenting team.
Representatives for Cox and McDaid have been contacted for comment.
