A.P. Governor launches climate action plan and Amaravati plastic-free city campaign in Guntur

Andhra Pradesh Governor and AP State Branch, S. Abdul Nazeer, AP Red Cross on Tuesday, August 12 in a program ‘AP Climate Action Plan and Amaravati Plastic City Campaign launched.

Speaking on this occasion, the Governor, ‘AP Climate Action Plan and Amaravati Plastic Free City Campaign is a unique initiative of the AP Red Cross and the campaign praised the participation of students, young Red Cross members, young participants and volunteers. He expressed his confidence that the campaign will spread to the whole state with the coordinated efforts of all stakeholders.

The governor said that thanks to this campaign, people should be aware of the bad effects of excessive plastic use in our daily lives and to eliminate the use of disposable plastic by encouraging sustainable habits and protect the environment for future generations. He pointed out that India was produced by 11 kg of plastic consumption per capita and about 3.5 million metric tons of plastic waste per year.

He also said that 13 of the United Nations Sustainable Development called for emergency actions to combat climate change. The International Red Cross Committee (ICRC), Geneva and Switzerland appreciated the launch of the EP climate action campaign.

Mr. Abdul Nazeer called on the Vice President to receive the AP climate action campaign on colleges with the active participation of all students and faculty members. Later, the governor gave a green hostage by the students.

Gundur Regional Collector S. Nagalakshmi, Red Cross President Yd Rama Rao, Secretary General and CEO Ak Parida, Governor M. Hari Jawaharlal Secretary, Red Cross Treasurer P. Ramachandra Raju, Ircs Gundur Regional Branch V. Ravi and other utters participated in the program.
