Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh all set for SIR of electoral rolls from today

Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan said on Monday, October 27, 2025, that all preparations have been made for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Rajasthan, which will begin on October 28.
He said the exercise will result in the publication of the final voter rolls on February 7.

CEO Mahajan said that as per the schedule, training and printing of census forms will take place from October 28 to November 3, followed by door-to-door distribution and collection of forms from November 4 to December 4.
He said that the draft voter list will be published on December 9, while claims and objections will be accepted between December 9 and January 8, 2026.
He added that hearings and verifications will be held by January 31, and the final voter rolls will be published on February 7, 2026.
There are currently 5.48 crore registered voters in Rajasthan and the details of these voters will be verified by 52,469 booth level officers (BLOs) during the revision. Of these, 2.61 crore voters are above 40 years of age and around 77 per cent have already been mapped. Mahajan said a total of 2.88 crore voters under the age of 40 have been mapped.
He said all divisional commissioners, district election officers and election registrars have been given detailed instructions on polling station reorganization, BLO and observer training, political party coordination, media management and promotion of online applications.
In his statement, CEO Navdeep Rinwa said that preparations for the SIR of voter rolls have been completed in Uttar Pradesh as well.
“The last Special Intensive Revision in the state was done in 2003 and almost 22 years later it is being done again as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India,” he said.
The exercise will begin in the state on Tuesday to make voter rolls more accurate and inclusive, the official said.
Currently, there are around 15.44 crore voters and 1,62,486 polling stations in Uttar Pradesh. The statement stated that 75 district election officers, 403 election registrars, 2,042 assistant election registrars and 1,62,486 BLOs are on duty across the state.
