Labour accused of ‘fiddling while Rome burns’ after sex toy pledge | News

Kemi Badenoch accused the government of “at the same time giving a completely new meaning to playing the violin”. “Rome is burning”, a Labor MP said after launching a campaign to make 2026 the “summer of sex” and even saying he hoped to bring sex toys to parliament.
Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday (April 15), the Conservative Party leader criticized the opposition for “promoting sex toys in Parliament” at a time of “deep national seriousness”.
Derbyshire South MP Samantha Niblett said: “Yes Sex Please, We’re British!” It campaigns for more open, inclusive and lifelong sexual education under the title.
As part of this initiative, she hopes to bring sex toys to parliament to encourage more conversations about sexual pleasure, although the devices are not allowed inside for security reasons.
