A1 traffic updates crash causes dual-carriageway closure | UK | News

Commuters are facing a morning of misery after a serious crash caused the closure of a major dual carriageway and caused long delays.
In the early hours of the morning, emergency services rushed to the scene on the northern boundary of the A1 near Claypole, Lincolnshire. The road remains closed between Barrowby, near Grantham, and Balderton, a few miles north.
The affected section of the A1 is a vital commuter route for workers in Lincoln, around 30 miles away, and Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire. The closure is expected to cause significant disruption for these drivers.
A diversion has been put in place for affected passengers, but the detour through the edge of Nottinghamshire will add significant time to journeys this morning and delays look inevitable.
Lincolnshire Police and other emergency services are still at the scene of the crash, working to clear the road and investigating the incident, according to the Highways Agency.
