A30 crash: Huge collision leaves 2 police officers seriously injured | UK | News

Two police officers were among three people seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision on Cornwall’s busiest road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a collision involving two cars and a police vehicle on the A30 at around 8pm last night (7 December). Many people were injured and treated by ambulance teams. Three people, including two police officers, were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Their families were informed.

A section of the A30 motorway was closed for 11 hours while the scene was investigated. National Highways have warned motorists of the closure and a diversion route has been established while the road is closed.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said: “We are aware of the incident and have requested a document from the police.

“Once this information is received, we will evaluate it to determine whether further action is required from us.”

Police are asking anyone with information to contact police.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Three people were injured following a serious collision on the A30 near Hayle on Sunday 7 December.

“Just before 8pm, a collision involving a police vehicle and two cars was reported on the A30 between Roseworthy and Marsh Lane.

“While many people were being treated in ambulances, 3 people, including 2 police officers, were sent to the hospital with serious injuries. Their families were informed.

“There was a full road closure at St Erth junction and the Hayle ring road while emergency services worked at the scene.

“The road reopened this morning.

“A mandatory referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following an incident involving a police vehicle.

“Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police via our website or by calling 101 quoting log 701.”
