British man, 26, shot dead on Caribbean island while on holiday

A murder investigation has been launched after a British man was shot dead on a Caribbean island.
Royal Saint Lucia Police Force officers were called to reports of a body with multiple gunshot wounds on a road around 10.50pm on Tuesday. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews in Babonneau, Garrand.
The 26-year-old victim, originally from London, lived in nearby Anguilla and was holidaying in Saint Lucia where he was discovered.
Police have launched a murder investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Saint Lucia Times reported.
A police source said: “We would urge anyone with information to contact the major crimes unit.” Daily Mail.
“We want to know who he was visiting and why he was in this area. We have very little information about the victim.
“All we know is that he is British and has come to visit from a nearby island. We need to resolve this matter urgently.”
The Independent has contacted the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force for comment.
The incident occurred just days before another shooting on the island.
On Sunday, around 9pm in Morne Du Don, a district of Saint Lucia, a minibus driver was shot during an alleged robbery attempt. It was stated that the victim’s condition was stable and he remained in the hospital. Saint Lucia News Now.
Another British national has died after a baby died in a tragic accident in Saint Lucia earlier this year. seven months old Tommy Taylor-Mclean East London Coroner’s Court heard the passenger fell out of bed on the first day of the journey. He was pronounced dead at a hospital on the island on April 2.
An inquest was opened in Walthamstow on 9 April after the body, originally from Upminster, Havering, was returned to England.
After his fall he was found to have suffered a brain haemorrhage, which senior coroner Graeme Irvine described as a tragic situation.
“It appears that the circumstances surrounding Tommy’s fall did not result in any criminal investigation in Saint Lucia. I must make this absolutely clear,” he said.
