Naidupeta Urban CI, head constable caught in ACB net

Tirupathi Range Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials nabbed the Circle Inspector and head police officer of Naidupeta Urban police station for allegedly taking a bribe of ₹30,000 from a wine shop owner.

CI, Mathangi Bobby and head constable Kolluru Ramamohan Raju, who allegedly collected ₹15,000 as monthly commission from the wine shop in Naidupeta town, were harassing the management for not paying the amount.

To put pressure on the wine shop management, CI reportedly filed a case against the store manager on January 20, 2026, for alleged seizure of illegal liquor in the store. Following this, the duo allegedly demanded ₹45,000 as a bribe and reduced the amount to ₹30,000 upon the demands of the management.

Acting on a complaint, Tirupathi ACB Range officials laid a trap and arrested the CI and the police chief while accepting the bribe on Sunday. A search was conducted at Naidupet Urban police station and the houses of the accused and the two will be produced in the ACB Court in Nellore, ACB officials said in a press release.
