Brighton beach dad of tragic sisters’ heartbreaking task | UK | News

Following the tragic deaths of three sisters whose bodies were found on Brighton beach, a fundraising campaign has been launched to give them “the loving and dignified farewell they deserve”.

Emergency services were called at around 5.45am on May 13 after concerns were raised for the welfare of a person, before three bodies were pulled from the water near Madeira Drive.

Sussex Police identified the women as Jane Adetoro, 36, Christina Walters, 32, and Rebecca Walters, 31, from the Uxbridge area of London.

Their father, Joseph, said Wednesday that there were days when the pain was “unbearable,” but he held on to the memories they shared and “the bond that death could never break.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up with a target of £18,000 to cover funeral costs. The organizer of the fundraiser, Adesoji Adetoro, wrote that it was set up on behalf of his brother Joseph and the wider family, and noted that they were struggling to come to terms with what had happened.

“No parent should have to bury their child, let alone all three,” he said. “While my brother tries to solve this unimaginable tragedy, he also faces the heartbreaking task of organizing three funerals.

“As a family, we want to give the girls the loving and dignified farewell they deserve.”

More than £3,000 has been donated since the fundraiser was launched. On Wednesday, Joseph paid tribute to his daughters as his joy and strength and the “beautiful light that fills our family with happiness and love.”

“Each of you was unique and valuable in your own way. Your smile brightened the dark days, your laughter brought comfort, your presence made life more meaningful.”

Sussex Police have confirmed there is currently no evidence of criminality or third party involvement but specialist detectives are actively working to establish the full facts and circumstances surrounding these men’s deaths.

Police confirmed hundreds of hours of CCTV footage had been reviewed and investigations were carried out at businesses and properties in the beach area in a bid to trace the women’s recent movements.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward, especially anyone who saw the sisters near the Madeira Drive area between 10pm on May 12 and 5:30am on May 13.

Chief Inspector Adam Hays said police would “leave no stone unturned” in their investigation to understand what led to “the tragic events of that Wednesday morning”.

After the women were identified, Brighton and Hove City Council leader Bella Sankey said learning the women were sisters “makes this troubling situation even more heartbreaking”.

“My heart goes out to their family and friends,” she said.

“Their pain and suffering must be so great, I hope they have support in these worst of times.

“Brighton and Hove are also bereaved and I would like to once again send them our deepest condolences and love.”
