Actor NTR Moves Delhi HC Over Defamatory Social Media Posts

Hyderabad: Actor NTR has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court seeking to protect his personal rights and reputation against allegations of defamation on social media and e-commerce platforms.
During the hearing on Monday, NTR’s lawyer J. Sai Deepak informed the court that posts damaging the actor’s reputation were being widely shared and demanded immediate action against the culprits. The court directed the online platforms concerned to examine the flagged accounts under the 2021 IT rules and take appropriate action within three days. The issue is planned to be discussed again on December 22.
Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora also recommended that complainants should first try to ensure that objectionable content is removed by the platforms before taking legal action. NTR’s lawyer stated that there was a precedent to this effect in an earlier case involving actor Ajay Devgn. NTR is now one of the leading public figures, including actors Nagarjuna, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor and spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who have approached the Delhi High Court with similar concerns.
