Adam Peaty: Olympic swimmer on LA 2028, Gordon Ramsay and his return to the pool

Peaty believes he was in “a very good mood” as he returned to London.
He had won gold in the 50 meters at the Edinburgh International Swimming Meet a month earlier, but finished fourth in the 100 meters, losing to 18-year-old British junior world champion Filip Nowacki.
He also settled into family life in December, marrying model Holly Ramsay, daughter of TV chef Gordon.
“The life we have together brings an incredible amount of peace,” he says. “But I also get to do this incredible thing that I call sports.”
He adds that swimming “keeps you humble” and that it is a “challenging path” but that “what made it easier was having my wife, my son and my friends around me.”
Peaty also counts on the support of his famous father-in-law, with whom he completed his first triathlon as part of Team Ramsay last August.
But when she thinks about her wedding speech, she admits Gordon probably won the award for best toast of the day.
“Gordon’s speech was always going to be hard to beat,” Peaty said.
“To have it [Holly’s] Our family’s support and love for us is incredible, but Gordon will never have trouble making the room laugh.
“He was able to bring the room together because that’s what a wedding is in my eyes; you bring these people together from every aspect of your life, you bring them together.”
Chef and restaurateur Ramsay, 59, has completed a number of Ironman and ultramarathon events in recent years.
“[He’s] very inspiring,” Peaty said. “I think it’s obviously a very different lifestyle for him in terms of the work he has to do and the business he has to run.
“I get a lot of guidance. I respect him a lot… [terms of] Sports know that the game is a game and do not lie. But this will humble you and you have to work hard for these results.
“I know that everything I have learned through sports are skills I can acquire for the rest of my life.”
