Adele Roberts has second cancer scare as she has surgery to remove lump in her neck – two years after getting all-clear from bowel cancer

Adele Roberts announced that she had cancer fear again and needed surgery to remove the swelling in her neck.

The 46-year-old radio presenter discovered a ‘monstrous’ lump over the summer, four years after being diagnosed with bowel cancer.

Adele was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021 and had to undergo colostomy surgery to remove her bowel tumor and install a stoma bag.

Adele, who received chemotherapy and radiotherapy, was cancer-free nine months after her diagnosis and now lives with a stoma bag, which she calls Audrey.

Speaking on Instagram on Wednesday, Adele opened up about her terrifying second cancer scare, showing off the scar behind her ear after a lump was removed.

Alongside the photos she wrote: ‘THANK YOU NHS. What a great week it’s been so far – it’s only Wednesday and I’ve had a camera up my ass, an enema (I THOUGHT IT WOULD NEVER END) and some test results I’ve been worried about since the summer.

‘Thank you to everyone who has messaged me recently (noticed my cast and patch knee) I didn’t want to say as it was something I was worried about… but at the beginning of the summer I developed a worrying lump in my neck… it just wouldn’t go away and then it turned into a monster.

‘No one knew what it was and it wasn’t responding to treatment so it had to be examined and removed by a specialist.

‘The health problems I’ve been having lately and knowing that you can’t take things for granted… this is playing on my mind. Poor Kate too! He was so worried… sorry if we were a little weirder than usual haha.’

Adele revealed that she has been waiting for the swelling to clear up since the end of August and is doing her best to stay positive during this ‘anxious time’.

He continued: ‘I was put on the waiting list for export just before the Sydney Marathon… so it’s been on our minds for a while… but all this running has helped me so much and given me a way to channel my emotions, stay positive and think about all the people we’re raising money for. It turned an anxious time into a very happy time.

‘Even if I have a scar on my neck. I’m proud of it… and grateful. This will be my newest body art! My newest Kintsugi piece is a Japanese term: “celebrating and embracing imperfection. Treating healing as an essential part of the human experience.”

Adele revealed her ‘lump was benign’, but doctors revealed the endoscopy results were inconclusive and she ‘will need to return soon for round two’.

She added: ‘I finally got my test results from the dermatology unit today and the bump was benign! I DEFINITELY HIT! THANK YOU UNIVERSE!!!

‘So let’s go the other way… Unfortunately I didn’t have an endoscopy trip this week… The hospital couldn’t get a clear result because the enema didn’t work well enough. Even though I can’t use my butt right now, food can still get into my colon because I have a loop ileostomy.

‘It’s all good though… I’ll be back soon for Round 2 for a nice dose of tranquilizers and more bum paper shorts. I hope there is no new growth there and I can leave the NHS alone for a while.

‘If you are reading this and worried about ANYTHING please talk to someone. ‘Early diagnosis saves lives’

Sharing a video of her medal from the 2023 race, she said: ‘I thought I should take a look at this to remind me of where I am and what I’m capable of, because I’m really going crazy today.

She continued: ‘I can’t think of a better way to celebrate #BowlineCancerAwarenessMonth than to complete the challenge by running @londonmarathon and hoping to set a new Guinness World Record by becoming the first and fastest woman with a stoma to complete all 6 in the process.

‘I promise to give it my all tomorrow – just like I did after waking up from surgery. I will start small and dream big!! I will take it step by step… and each of these steps will lead me to the finish point.

‘And I know you’ll all be with me every step of the way. ‘I will run carrying you all in my heart.’

He also paid tribute to girlfriend Kate Holderness, saying: ‘Thank you @kateholderness for being there EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. You’re the reason I never give up. You are my hero and I know that with you by my side I can never lose ❤️xxx’.

After completing the grueling marathon, Adele was surprised with a message from stoma nurse Elaine when she took the stage at Lorraine.

In a moving video, Elaine told him: ‘You have inspired so many people and stoma patients. You have become an absolute God sender, a person that others aim to aspire to.

‘What a great achievement and thank you for carrying us on this journey with you.

Adele burst into tears when she saw the message, as host Lorraine Kelly praised: ‘I understand because the people who help you come back and be you again are so important and sometimes we forget.’

Adele replied: ‘Without a doubt, I always say cancer is a team effort and thanks to people like Elaine and the NHS I couldn’t have done it without them.’ The Dancing On Ice star previously revealed she felt ‘responsible’ for her cancer scare and felt ‘punished for something’.

He said: ‘I totally thought I was the cause of this [the cancer]. My first thought was ‘Am I going to die?’ happened. But once he [the doctor] He said he could help me, it was all I had.

‘And when he said it wasn’t my fault I cried and got very emotional.’
