UK military sent to deter Russian subs from its waters

British and Norwegian militaries have launched a military operation to deter Russian submarines suspected of “malicious activity” in the North Atlantic.

British Defense Secretary John Healey said a frigate, aircraft and hundreds of personnel were monitoring a Russian attack submarine and two spy submarines near undersea cables and pipelines in northern England.

He said that after more than a month of operation, the Russian ships finally left.

Healey said his message to Russia was, “We see your activities on our cables and pipelines, and you should know that any attempt to damage them will not be tolerated and will lead to serious consequences.”
